Tomatoes!
Have I mentioned that pregnancy is running a monopoly on my energy, leaving just enough for me to think about things I'd love to blog about, and not nearly enough to actually do so? Well, its true. One of the topics that I've been dying to discuss here is the CSA we've been part of for the first time this year. But that will have to wait.
What I will summon the brain power to tell you is that yesterday the farm we partner with in our CSA hosted a "Tomato Jubilee" - all CSA members were invited to come out to the farm and pick all the tomatoes we could pick. The first ten pounds were free for CSA members, and each additional pound was $1 each.
And so we went! It was almost an hour drive, but we had a goal of visiting the farm where so much of our food this year is being grown. Anything that develops our awareness of our food sources is a worthy outing in my mind, and I love all opportunities to leave the concrete jungle and head out to the country and get our hands dirty.
It was a hot day, and we picked and ate to our hearts content. I'll let the pictures tell the rest.
Update: A would like me to tell you about the very cool windmill we saw there. It is very cool, actually - it produces enough power in the grid to allow the farm to actually make money on electricity each year. Remind me why we don't all have one of these?

I really like the picture.. and the background there! It would be great to spend some time in a setting like that.
When is your baby due?

December 13th!
I grew up in the country, so I can't stand long stretches without a little re-visit...
Sounds super fun! I am glad y'all made the trek. I like the pic of you and Asher in the wagon... sweet!
I would say Asher, at the age of two, is on track to be among other things on of those world famous chefs who uses all fresh ingredients he hand picks from the huge garden in the back of his restaurant.
As one of his aunts, I'd like to make my reservation now.
Check knowing how to pick a ripe tomato of the list. Next it will be on to black truffles and foie gras. (yes, I had to look the spelling of foie gras up)
Thanks for the great pictures! They always make my day
Love,
Meliss
Asher has sun glasses? Wow, I must be the only person in the world who doesn't!
Wow, I'd love to have been there!
The pictures of you and Asher are just biteably cute. Hope you have more such fun times!
